Pumpkin patch visit! Last week I shared about our trip to Wills Orchard and Pumpkin Patch, this week I have our group trip to Geisler Farms in Bondurant, Iowa. We went with a stay-at-home parent group so we had the entire place to ourselves on a weekday morning. It was $5 a person – we took a hayrack ride, played in the farmyard for 2 hours, and then everyone got to choose a small pumpkin to take home. It was so much fun!

There is a lot of wide-open space at this farm; you can see the bigger pedal vehicles to ride here.
You can see the giant tubing slide in the background of that picture above – it is soo high! It goes surprisingly slow and is big enough for a small adult and child to go down together. There are potato sacks for extra slip.
I had never seen tubing used like this – human hamster wheels! Perfect for wearing out young kids, right!
My kids would have been disappointed without this – the obligatory corn pit for maximum dumping, scooping silliness.
They don’t have a traditional pumpkin patch; they pick them and line them all up in rows. This would be ideal for younger toddlers and early walkers – and there is no fee to pull up and buy pumpkins. It was a bummer for my son though; he started crying when he realized we weren’t going out into a “real patch” to pull one off the vine.
I have heard that Geisler Farms isn’t crazy busy during the weekends either – when we were there, it had a nice, relaxed feel with lots of open spaces in between activities that lent themselves well to running around and being wild for the kids. We will definitely go back! There is a bunch of stuff that I didn’t take pictures of; a traditional playground, rubber duck races, a “noise kitchen” with pots and pans and a baton to hit them, and another track with smaller pedal trikes.
